In the midst of a successful second season for the Latin America Poker Tour, Poker Stars has announced the creation of a new tour, the Russian Poker Tour. With the success of Ivan Demidov in this year’s WSOP, and Alex Kravchenko in last year’s, Russia made a logical setting for Poker Stars’s newest poker tour.
The Russian Poker Tour has announced two events for its first season. The first ever RPT event will be a $5,000 buy-in tournament and take place in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Neva River near the Baltic Sea. This inaugural event is scheduled for January 25-February 1, 2009.
It should be no surprise that the second RPT event, which will also be the last event of season 1, will take place in Moscow. This event will be a $10,000 buy-in tournament and run from February 22 thru February 28, 2009.
Poker Stars will likely look to expand the RPT in its second year should this first season prove successful.
You can win your way into the RPT thru satellites that are now running on Poker Stars, some satellites having buy-ins as low as $2.20. Visit the Poker Stars website or check out our online poker room reviews to learn more about playing online poker at Poker Stars.
