John owns Big Johnson’s Beer Garden and Bar in North Dallas and has been playing poker since 1993. His biggest poker accomplishment to date is his 3rd place finish at the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event. John had made it into the Main Event by playing in live tournament satellites across the country.
John Barch was eliminated from the tournament in one of the largest pots ever played in tournament history. John Barch went all-in with A-6, and both Joe Hachem, the eventual winner, and Steve Danneman, the eventual runner-up, called his all-in bet. The pot size grew to over 16 million dollars, and Joe Hachem won the hand with his pocket jacks. John won $2.5 million dollars for his third place finish.
As of 2010, his total career live tournament winnings exceed $2,945,000. His five cashes at the WSOP account for $2,846,788 of those winnings.
