Jennifer Harman is a consistent winner in some of the largest poker games in the world, which is one of the many reasons why she is considered by many to be the best female poker player in the world.
Born in Reno, Nevada, Jennifer Harman would regularly watch her father’s home game. One time her father had her take his seat when he was losing badly. Jennifer put on an impressive performance, causing her father to ask for her help whenever he was playing.
Jennifer started her life as a professional poker player when she turned 21, concentrating her efforts in Limit Holdem. Jennifer did well and moved up quickly until she could not move up any farther, playing in the largest cash game available $4,000/$8,000 mixed game, frequently playing against the likes of Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan. Jennifer has proven her poker skills repeatedly, and has earned every honor she has received.
In 2000, after a quick tutoring session from fellow pro Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman won her first World Series of Poker bracelet playing 2-7 Triple Draw in her first time ever playing the game. Jennifer’s expertise in Limit Holdem finally paid off in 2002, when she won a WSOP bracelet in her favorite game.
Jennifer had to take a break from poker in 2004 due to health issues, but returned to poker with success, having finished 4th in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, a 5th place finish in the first ever Professional Poker Tour event, and a 2nd place finish in the World Series of Poker Circuit Championship event.
Jennifer is the founder of “CODA,” which stands for Creating Organ Donation Awareness. She is a strong advocate of organ donation due to the kidney transplant she had in 2004.
Jennifer Harman wrote the section on Limit Holdem in Doyle Brunson’s book, Super System 2. Jennifer is married to fellow poker player Marco Traniello and is a member of the Full Tilt Poker team of professional poker players.
