Is Online Poker Legal?
Just about everybody who plays poker, especially online poker, asks the question "Is online poker legal?" at some point in their poker playing career. This is a simple question, but the answer can be about as complicated as putting together a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
This page is going to explain the legality issues of internet gambling, with an emphasis on online poker, and provide you with evidence in order to support our position on the issue. At the time that this was published, playing online poker or participating in any internet gambling is not illegal. The 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is a very hot topic right now. However, there are other laws in place that have attempted to restrict United States poker players from playing online poker games by making laws prohibiting financial transactions to internet gambling websites. I will discuss these on this page.
