PartyPoker for Mac
With PartyPoker being the most popular online poker room today, everybody wants to play there, including Mac poker players. Party Poker has neglected Mac poker players from playing at "The world's largest poker room," until now.
The intention of this guide is to illustrate several ways to play Party Poker for Mac. I will begin with the most suggested methods, then move to lesser suggested methods.
Party Poker - No Download
The most recent way to play Party Poker for Mac is to use their revolutionary no-download PartyPoker software. The client is compatible with Mac, Linux, and Windows. Party Poker released their real money cash games on September 10, 2006 and the software is fully functional.
Party Poker - Native Mac Download
There has also been talk of a native Mac download of the Party Poker software, but I have only seen such software being used at PartyPoker.net and not PartyPoker.com. I'm sure that when they are finished testing their software that it will be released in full real money mode at PartyPoker.com.
Enough Talking! Show me the No Download Party Poker Software!
Intel Macs Can Use Apple Boot Camp
If you have an intel based Mac, you can install a free program made by Apple called "Apple Boot Camp." The basic purpose of Apple Boot Camp is to allow Mac users to install Microsoft Windows on their Mac, allowing them access to many more software programs, including online poker rooms like Party Poker. You do have to purchase a licensed copy of Windows.
Here is a link to some information about using Apple's Boot Camp for poker.
PC Emulator
In the case that you do not have an Intel based Mac, you can use what is called a PC emulator to play Party Poker for Mac. A PC emulator works in a similiar fashion to that of Apple Boot Camp, except that the Windows environment is loaded within the Mac OS. There is a small fee for a PC emulator, ranging from $20 up to $250.
If you are interested in using this method, then I recommend that you read our PC Emulator page for an in-depth analysis of each PC emulator.
The most stable PC emulator for Party Poker is Virtual PC, but with a price tag of about $130 you might as well install Apple's Boot Camp and buy a copy of Microsoft Windows.
Installation of Party Poker - Apple Boot Camp or PC Emulator
After you have installed a PC emulator or Microsoft Windows on your Apple Mac computer, you can begin to set up Party Poker for Mac by going to PartyPoker.com. Click on the banner and begin downloading the Party Poker software. After you have done this, you will want to run the PartyPoker installer and install the Party Poker client onto your hard drive.
After you have installed Party Poker you can now open it using either Microsoft Windows or your PC emulator. A PC emulator will just be a seperate window so it's a little bit difficult to get used to at first, but is actually quite stable.
Sign Up a New PartyPoker Account
You want to sign up for a new account now, so click "Create Account" in the PartyPoker software. Go through the process of signing up until you come to a field called "bonus code."
For a $50 PartyPoker bonus, type in bonus code 50MP. For a 120% up to $200 Party Poker bonus, type in bonus code 200MP. To learn more about these codes, read our PartyPoker bonus code guide.
Making Your First Party Poker Deposit
After you are finished signing up and entering your PartyPoker bonus code, its time to make your first deposit. Just click on the cashier button and then go to the deposit section. You can setup Party Poker to work with your bank account or you can use other services such as Neteller or FirePay to fund your account. If you need help selecting a company to deposit with, I recommend that you read about our poker deposit options.
I hope this Mac Party Poker guide was insightful and helped you along your process of playing Party Poker for Mac.
