The 2009 NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship was an exciting one especially when it saw the rematch of Phil Hellmuth vs. Tom “Durrrr” Dwan when the field was cut down to 16 players and in that match it saw Phil Hellmuth get some revenge on Tom “Durrrr” Dwan. Also some other exciting news during the 2009 NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship saw the popular domain registrar GoDaddy sponsor this years poker tournament and news that GoDaddy had signed a sponsorship deal with poker hottie Vanessa Rousso was followed by Vanessa making it all the way to the final two players. However it was not the dream finish for GoDaddy and Vanessa Rousso.
As I have already said Vanessa Rousso is one of the players that made it all the way to the final two players in the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship and who is the player that she went heads up against for the title. It was none other but the only player who has cashed in every single NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship since the tournament started five years ago and that player is Huck Seed. That is correct the former World Series of Poker Main Event Champion has finally won the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship after four consecutive years finishing just short of the final table but was still in the cash. The only other player to cash in every single NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship since it started only five years ago was Scott Fischman but unfortunately Scott was unable to keep the streak going like Huck Seed.
The match between the two poker superstars was set up to be a best 2 out of 3 match however Huck Seed did not need to play all three matches to take care of Vanessa Rousso and take claim to his $500,000 first place prize. Even though the match was decided in only two of the three possible matches it was still not a short match and the action was not exciting, however every play was thought out very carefully but in the end it was still Huck Seed who took home the championship.
