Eric Hershler is most definitely the new kid on the block when it comes to poker. Born in South Africa, Eric Hershler moved to Los Angeles a few years ago. He demonstrated a large measure of academic talent and studied to become a lawyer quite early on. Eric Hershler had always played poker at home and amongst his friends. He also enjoyed playing tournament poker on a small scale in local casinos but did not make it to the national and international poker circuit until 2007.
While still an amateur, Eric Hershler decided to enter the World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic No Limit Championship event and made the biggest possible impact on the competition by winning it. For the $10,000 buy in event, he won nearly $2,500,000!
Unfortunately, Eric Hershler has not followed his initial success with similar results. He came 48th in the WPT $25,000 Five Star World Poker Classic, 68th in the World Series of Poker $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em Shootout, 62nd in the WSOP $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em, 103rd in the 2010 PokerStars.net NAPT Los Angeles main event, 40th in the 2011 World Series of Poker $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, 583rd in the 2013 World Series of Poker event $1,500 “Millionaire Maker” No-Limit Hold’em, and 273rd in the 2013 World Series of Poker event $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em main event.
Having said that, most amateur and a good deal of professional poker players would be jealous of these results. Eric Hershler is married with three children. No doubt that we will be seeing a lot more of Eric Hershler in the future.
