With the popularity of poker today it is almost necessary to know the basic poker rules of games such as Texas Holdem, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud. This page has been created to provide you with links to the basic poker rule guides for many poker games to help you learn how to play poker.
Poker Hand Rank Chart
This is a basic poker hand ranking chart that simply ranks the basic poker hands in order from best to worst. As the core of poker, the ranking order and power of poker hands must be known in order to complete any type of poker hand.
Texas Holdem Poker Rule Guide
As the most popular poker game today, this is where I recommend you begin your poker rule training. Texas Holdem poker is a game where each player is dealt two cards face down and use community cards to make the best poker hand.
Seven Card Stud Poker Rule Guide
Seven Card Stud is an age old poker game where players make an ante, receive two cards down and one card up to begin.
Omaha Poker Rule Guide
Omaha Poker is also known as Omaha Holdem and is a hybrid version of Texas Holdem Poker. With the same basic rules, and a few changes, Omaha serves to be an exciting poker game.
HORSE Poker Rule
Not a game for amateurs. Consists of a combination of popular poker games including Texas Holdem, Omaha, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Eight or Better.
Five Card Draw Poker Rule Guide
Five card draw is the classic game that I grew up with. Players go to war with each other by exchanging up to three (sometimes four) cards and making the best possible poker hand.
Five Card Stud Rule
Five card stud is similar to seven card stud, but not the same as five card draw. Players do not exchange any cards, and some are displayed face up.
Pineapple Poker Rule Guide
Pineapple Poker is another hybrid version of Texas Holdem Poker. Rather than receiving only two cards, players receive three and discard one card, creating stronger starting hands.
Crazy Pineapple Poker Rule Guide
Crazy Pineapple Poker is yet another variant of Texas Holdem Poker, and is slightly different than Pineapple Poker. Players discard their third card after seeing the flop in Crazy Pineapple Poker.
Deuce Seven Triple Draw Rules
2-7 Triple Draw is a strange game in that players compete to have the worst possible hand, which is 23457. There aren't many places where you can play this game, but we list as many as we have found for you.
Tahoe Poker Rule Guide
Tahoe is very similar to playing Pineapple Poker. The difference is that you do not actually discard any cards. Contrary to most belief, you can only play two or less of your hole cards at showdown.
Chicago Poker Rule Guide
Chicago Poker is a game very similar to Seven Card Stud, except there is a pot splitting rule where the person with the highest spade takes half of the pot.
