General Information

SwitchPoker.com is a new poker site with one major selling point for players: it is currently the only poker site to support iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android owners.  You won’t find them in Apple’s App Store of course, as Apple has a strict policy against gambling applications, but their site is accessed completely from a web browser.  This allows players from a Mac, PC, or iOS device to access the entire site easily from nearly any browser.  Android devices are not currently supported, but should be coming soon.

Layout and Features

Switch Poker’s layout is very simple and streamlined, in an effort to make it readable and usable on smaller devices.  The result is a very easy-to-use interface somewhat reminiscent of PokerStars, with large buttons that are easy to click even on a small iPhone screen.  In fact, the interface even supports multi-tabling of up to 2 tables on the iPhone and 4 on the iPad.  Multi-tabling works quite well, though playing speed sometimes feels sluggish, and there are a few graphical glitches from time to time where interface elements overlap.  These problems will likely get ironed out soon, however, as the site is still very new.

Competition

As with the launch of any new poker site, the most obvious downside of Switch Poker is a lack of players.  Despite periodic surges, there are often very few tables being played at any given time.  Switch Poker will have their work cut out for them in the coming months attracting new players.

Games

Currently the site offers only No-Limit Hold’em games with 6 seats, but they plan to launch other games in the future.  Play money and Real Money games are available.  Stakes for Real Money go as high as 100NL, but whether you can play at your preferred stakes depends on the number of players on the site at the time.  The site plans to offer higher stakes in the future.

Summary

Switch Poker is a site with a lot of potential.  As the first site to support iPhone and iPad devices, they are getting a lot of press at the moment.  If their player base continues to grow they could become a real competitor in online poker.
