Phil Ivey came into the world series seeking his 6th bracelet. Being one of the top online and live pros, he is obviously a favorite in all games he plays. Playing in the 8th event, which is the 2-7 lowball no-limit event $2,500 buyin, Ivey quickly found himself at the final table. After having being a short stack for most of the time, he stormed back against John Monnette to take a huge chip lead. Monnette fought back and got to with a 3:2 chip disadvantage. Yet, that was as close as he would get. Phil would out play Monnette to capture his 6th bracelet. Ivey had to best 147 players to win a nice little $91k payday. Although, everyone knows Ivey loves betting action, so he probably made a bit more on side bets particularly with Barry Greenstein. Ivey is playing in the $10k buyin mixed hold’em event currently.
