The 2008 World Series of Poker Player of the Year Erick Lindgren is doing his part in the fight against the horrific diseases of Leukemia & Lymphoma which has taken so many lives from so many families. The dangerous disease has even taken a life of an up-and-coming poker star no more then two months ago. The name of this player was Mindy Trinidad who in 2007 made the final table of the World Series of Poker Ladies Event and ended up finishing in seventh place. Since that final table, Mindy was able to show the skill it would take for her to become a star in this male dominated sport of poker, but unfortunately her life was taken from the poker community on October 9th, 2008 when her fight with Leukemia had ended.
This is now when poker professional Erick Lindgren enters the picture because Erick has teamed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help put on a charity poker tournament which will be held at the Hard Rock Casino & Resort in their famous Hard Rock Poker Lounge on December 12th. The tournament is going to have a $23o entry fee and will be open to the entire public and the winner of the tournament will receive an entry fee into the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event which is being donated by Erick Lindgren. When asked why he was going to donate the entry fee to the winner of the tournament, Erick responded by saying that he hoped it would attract more people to come and play in the charity tournament and help support the fight against Leukemia & Lymphoma.
If you are wondering if the only prize that is being given away is an entry into the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, well then let me tell you that there are a lot more prizes to be awarded. The elegant watches made by Curtis & Co. will be awarded to the top three finishers in the tournament. Also a special prize just for you ladies is a very nice pearl necklace will be awarded to the last remaining woman in the tournament. There will also be other bounty prizes that will be given out to players throughout the tournament. The biggest prize that each player will receive is the satisfaction that they helped fund the cure to the horrific diseases Leukemia & Lymphoma.
